The English Bed Company Discount Code UK: Beds, Sizes & Sale Guide (2026)

The English Bed Company is a UK bed manufacturer whose history goes back 60 years in Lancashire — one of the few retailers that still makes what it sells, handcrafting beds to order in its own Blackburn and Manchester factories, in over 150 fabric and leather options, with free fabric samples before you buy. Its savings stack in layers: code MATTRESS100 (£100 off bed-and-mattress orders, to 28 February 2027), code Lindwhite5 (5% off, to 31 December 2026), an early Black Friday sale cutting up to 30% off sitewide to 1 December 2026, clearance at up to 80% off, headboards from £665, footstools from £395 and free UK mainland delivery on beds. All seven offers were checked on 8 November 2026.

But the reason to read past the code box is that the sale, the codes and the clearance rack each win on different baskets — and which route to take depends entirely on what you are buying. This guide covers the current offers, who actually makes the beds, UK bed sizes explained, what the beds really cost, and the maths that decides whether you use a code, take the sale price, or hunt the clearance rack.

All the current offers are listed on the The English Bed Company discount codes page at VouchersX, checked 8 November 2026.

Reading the table: the 30% sale beats both codes on full-price items while it runs; the £100 voucher beats the 5% code on any bed-and-mattress basket under £2,000; and the clearance rack can beat everything if the size and fabric happen to fit. The crossover maths is below.

Who Actually Makes the Beds?

Plenty of "British" bed brands design here and manufacture abroad. The English Bed Company is the other kind: its history goes back 60 years in Lancashire, and it still operates two purpose-built factories, in Blackburn and Manchester, manufacturing beds, headboards, mattresses, sofa beds, chairs and footstools in-house. Because everything is made to order, the store can adjust a design's dimensions, change its details and upholster it in a fabric or leather of your choice — over 150 options on the website, and it will upholster in fabrics it does not list. It also runs apprenticeships that have fed its own teams for decades.

That has three practical consequences for shoppers. First, every bed is made for you, so lead times are measured in production weeks, not parcel days — each product page shows its current estimate. Second, returns on bespoke items are excluded, so decisions deserve care. Third, the store stands behind what it makes with a 5-year frame warranty — well beyond the statutory minimum most mass-market imports carry.

UK Bed Sizes Explained (and Where the Range Sits)

The range divides into beds by size — single through to grande emperor — and by style: contemporary, buttoned, beds on legs, ottoman, sleigh and leather. Headboards come plain, deep-buttoned and winged; mattresses are UK-made in pocket sprung, memory foam and orthopaedic types; and the sofa-bed line spans leather, fabric, chesterfield, corner and L-shaped designs.

SizeDimensionsBest for
Single90 x 190cmChildren's rooms and guest rooms
Double135 x 190cmCouples short on space; solo sleepers who spread out
King150 x 200cmMost couples — the volume sweet spot
Super king180 x 200cmCouples who share the bed with children or pets
Emperor200cm wideA luxury spread — six inches wider than a super king
Grande emperorThe store's largest sizeMaximum statement bedrooms

Two size notes worth knowing. King and super king are 200cm long — 10cm longer than a double — which matters if either sleeper is over 6ft. And because every bed is made to order, the bespoke service can build to unusual dimensions that mass-market ranges simply do not offer.

What the Beds Actually Cost

Prices move with fabric and size, but the main bed collection currently lists between £970 and £1,350 for popular king and super king designs. Headboards start from £665, footstools from £395, and the clearance section is where the one-off bargains live: at our 8 November check it included a Christie king divan bed at £800, an Austen king bed at £850, a Hemingway king at £900, a Lawrence grande emperor at £950, and a Dickens king headboard at £500.

The clearance lines are single items in a single fabric — ex-display, surplus or end-of-line stock from the factories. When a size and colour fit, they are the deepest cuts in the store, and they do not restock.

Code, Sale or Clearance? The Crossover Maths

Three discount routes, decided entirely by the basket:

  • The £2,000 crossover between the codes: MATTRESS100 is a flat £100 voucher on bed-and-mattress orders; Lindwhite5 is 5%. They are worth the same on a £2,000 basket — £100 each. Below that the voucher wins: on a £1,600 basket it saves £100 against £80. Above it the percentage wins, reaching £120 on a £2,400 basket.
  • While the early sale runs, 30% beats everything on full-price items: 30% off a £1,135 king bed is £340.50, taking it to £794.50 — fractionally cheaper than the £800 Christie king divan currently in clearance. On a £1,385 Weybridge king, the sale saves £415.50, where Lindwhite5 would save £69.25 and MATTRESS100 £100 (with a mattress in the basket).
  • After 1 December, the balance flips back: the codes take over on full-price items, and the clearance rack becomes the deepest cut again — an £850 Austen king or a £500 Dickens headboard against a £665 main-range from-price needs no code at all.

One discount route applies per order as the standard rule, so build the basket around the deepest route that covers it.

Black Friday and January: When Handmade Beds Get Cheapest

Two windows dominate the bed calendar. The early Black Friday sale is live now — up to 30% off sitewide, promoted with a countdown on the merchant's own site and ending 1 December 2026. Black Friday itself falls on 27 November, so the current window already covers it. January is the bed industry's true peak: the new-year home-refresh season when bed retailers traditionally add fresh reductions to clear pre-spring stock — and a 60-year-old manufacturer with two factories to fill is a good bet for clearance restocks then.

The rule of thumb: buy full-price items inside the 30% window before 1 December, use MATTRESS100 on bed-and-mattress baskets afterwards, hunt clearance throughout, and expect the January refresh to reset the whole sheet.

What to Check Before Ordering

  • Delivery is free but not instant. Beds are made to order; after production completes, delivery takes up to 10 working days, with a call around three days beforehand. Plan the bedroom-clearing weekend accordingly.
  • Assembly is listed at £50. The delivery page prices room-of-choice bed assembly as a £50 add-on; the FAQ suggests the two-person team assembles in your chosen room — confirm which applies when ordering.
  • Beds arrive disassembled to make stairs and doorways easier; the two-person team delivers to your room of choice and asks you to inspect before signing.
  • Mattresses have a hygiene rule. They cannot be returned once the protective covering is removed, unless there is a manufacturing fault — check you are happy before unsealing.
  • Bespoke is final. Products made to your specifications — bespoke fabrics, altered dimensions — are excluded from the 14-day returns policy. Order the free samples first.
  • Sofa beds and Highlands deliveries are charged. Free mainland delivery covers beds, headboards, mattresses, chairs, footstools and selected furniture; sofa beds carry a charge, and Highlands and islands are quoted on 0161 925 8503.

How to Use The English Bed Company Discount Code

  1. Copy the MATTRESS100 or Lindwhite5 code from the VouchersX store page.
  2. Order free fabric samples first if you are choosing an upholstered bed — live with the swatches, then buy.
  3. Add your bed — and a mattress, if you are using MATTRESS100 — and check whether the 30% sale or a clearance line already beats the code (the maths above).
  4. Go to checkout and find the discount or promo code field at checkout.
  5. Paste the code exactly as copied and apply — the discount line appears immediately.
  6. Confirm the delivery window, the assembly option and your fabric choice before paying.

Money-Saving Tips for English Bed Company Shoppers

1. Run the crossover maths before touching a code

Full-price items while the sale runs: 30%. Bed-and-mattress baskets under £2,000 after 1 December: the £100 voucher. Everything else: Lindwhite5 to 31 December. Thirty seconds of maths is worth more than any code on this page.

2. Order the free samples even if you think you know

Fabric is the one thing a screen cannot show, and bespoke fabrics are non-returnable. The samples are free, posted with a brochure, and the only insurance against a four-figure colour mistake across 150+ options.

3. Check clearance before the main range

A £500 Dickens king headboard against a £665 from-price, or an £850 Austen king against £970+ in the main collection — the clearance rack needs no code and no sale window. Single items, single fabrics: if it fits, it wins.

4. Size the room, not just the bed

A super king frame plus winged headboard eats a small bedroom; a king at 150 x 200cm is 10cm longer than a double, which matters for taller sleepers and smaller rooms alike. Measure wall-to-wall, subtract walking room, then pick the size.

5. Use the showroom if you can reach Manchester

Open seven days a week, displaying many popular designs — the fastest way to settle fabric and build-quality questions before a made-to-order purchase, with the sales team on 0161 925 8503.

6. If you can wait, January resets the sheet

The new-year refresh traditionally brings fresh reductions and clearance restocks. If the current sale or clearance line already covers your bed, do not wait — but a January buy widens the choice.

The English Bed Company FAQs

Is The English Bed Company a trustworthy retailer?

It is a 60-year-old UK manufacturer with its own factories in Blackburn and Manchester, a 5-year frame warranty on every bed, free fabric samples, a Manchester showroom open seven days a week and free UK mainland delivery. Those are verifiable facts rather than marketing claims — and the showroom means you can inspect the build quality before spending four figures.

How much are the beds?

At our 8 November 2026 check, popular king and super king designs in the main collection listed between £970 and £1,350, headboards started from £665, footstools from £395, and clearance ran from a £500 king headboard to £1,385 for a Weybridge king bed.

What is the best code right now?

MATTRESS100, worth £100 off a bed-and-mattress order, until 28 February 2027 — with the 30% early sale beating it on full-price items until 1 December 2026. The live list is always on the VouchersX store page.

Does the 5% code work on sale and clearance items?

The safe assumption is one discount route per order — and on full-price items the 30% sale already beats 5% by a wide margin. Use Lindwhite5 on items outside the sale, before 31 December 2026, or when your basket crosses the £2,000 crossover.

Does The English Bed Company offer a student discount?

There is no dedicated student percentage. The store appears on UNiDAYS, but the offers listed there — free delivery on selected beds and clearance discounts — are the same ones open to everyone.

How long do orders take?

Lead times vary by model and are shown on each product page; after production completes, delivery takes up to 10 working days, with a call around three days beforehand to arrange the date.

What sizes are available?

Single, double (135 x 190cm), king (150 x 200cm), super king (180 x 200cm), emperor and grande emperor — plus bespoke dimensions through the made-to-order service, including fabrics not listed on the website.

When is the best time to buy?

Now to 1 December 2026 for the 30% early Black Friday sale; afterwards, MATTRESS100 on bed-and-mattress baskets and the clearance rack — and January traditionally resets the whole sheet with fresh reductions, the bed industry's peak season.
